You may or may not know, but All-Star Real Estate is a family owned and operated company. Our company was started by my dad, Steve White, in the 1970’s. My mom, Patti, joined the company when her and dad got married in 1986 and I (April) followed in their footsteps in 2009. If you want all the details, head over to our ABOUT US page to fill in the blanks 🙂 As a result, we celebrate Thanksgiving together each and every year, LOL!
Growing up, my early memories are of us spending Thanksgiving at our house with my Grandma, Grandpa, and Papa White. After filling our bellies, we would spend quality time together…football, decorating for Christmas, and always going to get a Christmas Tree that afternoon! Also there was my younger sister, Amber. I should have mentioned her earlier. 😉
At some point, when I was in my pre-teen years, we started going out to eat for Thanksgiving. For you old school Anderson folks, Morrison’s Cafe was our destination of choice! Once an adult, my sister moved to Myrtle Beach and I got married, so the going out to eat tradition continued in Myrtle Beach for a few years, but with not only the four of us, but my husband, his girls (our girls!) and his mom. When Amber moved back to Greenville, so did our family Thanksgiving dinners. You’ll notice that even our Thanksgiving pictures have traditions 🙂
Since then, my sister has had another child, a few have gone to heaven, and we’ve now added a fiance and a boyfriend. With the loss of our loved ones means the end of some traditions and changing things up a bit. We still eat at the dawn of 11 bells on Thanksgiving morning, haha, but each year is now a little different. This year, for the first time, we’re going to eat at Sullivan’s Metropolitan Grill in Anderson, SC. Some of my family has ordered Thanksgiving takeout from there, but my husband and I were with his family when that happened. It will be all of our first time enjoying their Thanksgiving buffet that gets rave reviews online. We are going to gobble until we wobble, but instead of heading to the Christmas Tree lot like we did for many years, this year we will carry on last year’s tradition of Thanksgiving games (don’t worry, I’ll post pics!).
I would love to tell you what those games are, but Patti is in charge of that this year and I have no idea what we’re doing. So, head over to our Facebook page and hit LIKE so you can join in our fun when I post pictures of how we work off that stuffing and gravy 😉 . Our old traditions are but a memory, but we will continue to create new memories while being a little non-traditional.
