Upstate Real Estate Market Report for February 2019

Rain Rain, Go Away! That’s the tune most of us are singing right now, but what you may not have thought about is how this rain has affected the Upstate Real Estate Market. Did you know that we are currently in our longest streak without rain since SEPTEMBER? And the market is feeling it. Just look at those New Listing numbers.

The Greater Anderson Area Real Estate Market is down over not only January 2019, but also February 2018. The Greater Greenville Real Estate Market is up from January and 2018, but just barely. It’s hard to get your house ready to put on the market when you can’t get outside to pressure wash or tidy up your flower beds. My guess is that we’ll see a New Listing improvement this week and will continue to see more and more homes on the market if the rain continues to hold off.

The National Association of REALTORS® recently reported that national existing- home sales were down slightly during January 2019 and that pending sales were up in year-over-year comparisons. It is worth noting that some softening of sales was anticipated, as was a positive sales bounce during January 2019 after a slow end to 2018. Weather-related events have hampered some of the necessary machinations of making home sales during February 2019, yet buyers have shown determination toward achieving their homeownership goals.
